Why Water Island?

Water Island is a 491.5 acre island located in the Charlotte Amalie harbor, St Thomas USVI. A 9 minute ferry ride from St Thomas brings you to Phillips Landing on Water Island. Water Island is a residential island yet it has a small population of just slightly more than 180 full time residents.  The first thing you will notice when arriving by ferry from Crown Bay Marina is that there are very few cars on Water Island. Many of the residents move around by golf cart along the islands narrow roads.

Water Island is a tropical, generally hilly island that lies directly in the path of the easterly winds throughout the year. It is loved for the pristine environment Water Island does not have stores or shopping malls – just a laid back beachy atmosphere for those looking for a quieter kind of life.

The main beach on Water Island is Honeymoon Beach – the crown jewel of Water Island. Honeymoon beach is the main gathering place on the island, and features Monday movie nights throughout the year. Heidi’s Honeymoon Grill and the Dinghy Dock operate daily at Honeymoon Beach.

The eastmost third of the island is a gated community, Sprat Bay Estates. This includes Sprat Point, a 30 acre peninsula and nature preserve owned by the US Government, and private Sprat Bay Beach, located between Sprat Point and Carol Point. All beaches in the USVI are public when approached from the water.
