By Kelsey Fischer:

For as long as I can remember, skydiving has been a dream of mine—a bucket list goal that always felt just out of reach. The reason? A pretty big one: I’ve had a lifelong fear of heights. But sometimes, the universe sends you a little nudge—or in my case, a freefall from 13,000 feet.

When Fyre Parachute brought STX Boogie to St. Croix, offering limited tandem jumps, I saw it as a sign. Something inside me said, “Now’s the time.” And just like that, I signed up, heart pounding, ready to face my fear head-on.

That first jump was absolutely exhilarating. I thought I loved roller coasters, but skydiving? That’s a whole different level of adrenaline. The rush was unmatched—the wind, the view, the sense of total freedom. I landed with my feet on the ground, but my head still in the clouds.

One month later, I was already hooked. I traveled to Puerto Rico for another tandem jump, this time with Skydive Puerto Rico, and experienced an incredible beach landing. Imagine floating down from the sky and touching down in soft, warm sand with ocean views stretching out around you—it was magical.

Now, I’m setting my sights even higher: my goal is to get certified for solo jumps and eventually become an instructor. It’s wild to think that someone once afraid of heights now finds their peace and passion in freefall. But that’s the beauty of pushing past fear—it can open the door to dreams you never imagined living.

Whether it’s skydiving, buying your first home, or relocating to a new island, life’s greatest moments often start with a leap of faith.

So here’s to big leaps, soft landings, and chasing every dream—even the ones that scare you. Because honestly, the sky’s the limit.
